Thrash Metal is a sub-genreofMetal that developed in the early 80s. It is best know for its speed and "aggression". Lyrics are ussually about polotics, social issues, or the artists personal experiances. Most Thrash Metal Bands use clear vocals, unliike Death Metal and Black Metal. However, Thrash Metal created a foundation for many sub-genres of Metal. Without "Thrash", there would be no Death Metal, no Nu Metal, and many other types of Metal would not exist.

Some of the many Thash Metal bands are Anthrax, Megdeath, Metallica, and Slayer. These bands are often called the "Big Four", because these are the most influencial and recognizable Thrash Metal bands. Slayer simultaininously created and perfected Thrash Metal with thier first album, "Show No Mercy". Later came Metallica, who took Thrash Metal into the mainstream. Most of their albums have been best-sellers, and they have made multiple apperances on TV stations and on the radio.
